Who is an ideal student? Some may think that an ideal student should be brilliant in his studies and always stand at the tope of the successful students. But it is a wrong thinking. He is obedient but sometimes may be a little naughty. He enjoys good things of life in moderation and never acquires bad habits. He always keeps away from the bad company.

He aims at all-round development of his growing personality. He loves studies as much as games and sports. He takes daily some physical exercise to keep his body fit and trim. Using Water Fountains as Memorials

Much like a statue, water fountains are also used to commemorate an individual’s memorable existence or notable achievement. While fountains are often constructed of some kind of statuary, obviously the difference lies in the addition of falling water. The sound of falling water brings on the feeling of peace and the sight of it reflection. Adding water to a solid form instantly changes a simple object into a tangible and living thing. Unlike a statue (no matter how elaborate the statue is in itself), water fountains trigger much sentiment and idealism.

In “Song of the Spirits over the Water” by Johann Wolfgang Goethe it is written, “A mortal’s soul seems like the water, from heaven coming to heaven rising again renewed then to earth descending ever changing.” Certainly, using a water fountain as a memorial goes a long way in adding continuity. It is as though what has passed or died still lives and will continue living for eternity.

Who do Fountains Represent?

While fountains as memorials have been used throughout Europe as well as the United States, it is really a world wide practice. Fountains as memorials have often been used for royalty, great heroes or notable politicians such as the Shaftesbury Memorial Fountain located in Piccadilly Circus, London. This fountain designed by Alfred Gilbert in 1893 was built as a monument for Anthony Ashley-Cooper, earl of Shaftesbury. Ashley-Cooper was a politician who worked tirelessly in English social and educational reform.

While it seems that many fountains are used as a memorial for mostly males, one commemorative fountain representative of a woman is the Josephine Shaw Lowell Memorial Fountain located in Bryant Park behind the New York Public Library. Built in 1912, this fountain was the first prominent memorial honoring a woman. The beauty of this gentle yet powerful fountain symbolizes the strong and beautiful character of Lowell who was an inspiration in charitable giving.

Aside from mere mortal souls, water fountain memorials are also used to celebrate the life of religious icons. These are particularly popular in countries heavily influenced by religion such as Catholicism or Hinduism. Many families have table top water fountains in their homes to place at homemade altars running the fountains non-stop. Fathers, Don’t Be Ignorant About Pregnancy

When my wife was conceived and expecting my son, Ethan, I was so exhilarated that I started searching for information on pregnancy, which would hopefully help me become a good father and a caring husband. I was amazed at the amount of information available, especially for a new, ignorant father like me. After that process of searching and learning I had to admit that in this time and age, we fathers have no excuse to be a lousy dad. One may be excused if he is illiterate. Even so, the illiterate can always ask other fathers for advice and tips.

After I have digested the information and shared what I have researched and known with my expecting wife, she was also astonished how much a husband could get himself ready to be a father nowadays. There is absolutely no reason not to know. Before the internet became widespread, we might still give the excuse “Oh, I do not have the budget to buy that reference book or that guide book.” Sorry guys, this excuse is outdated. Most of us have an internet line at the comfort of our home to search for all the information we need from around the world. Even if you do not have an internet line at home, there is probably a cybercafé nearby or, better still, free internet line in the neighborhood library. No time? Sorry guys, that is no longer an acceptable alibi. Everybody has the same number of hours, 24 hours a day. If you really do not have the time, please do not get your wife pregnant. Don’t you know there are options of contraceptives? I hope you guys know this one!

Pregnancy is a funny thing. Not every female experience the same symptoms. However, you will definitely find something that remains true from what you read and learn. Each trimester comes with something different. And each trimester comes with its own challenges, risks and joy as the fetus, your child, grows and develops through the weeks and months.

Some pregnant mothers do not experience many symptoms at all. And some are like not pregnant at all, except maybe with an appetite of a cow! Some, like my wife, were totally beaten and bedridden throughout most of the day. My wife was like taking a long voyage! She was like having sea sick for about 6 months. Apart from that, she also suffered from gastric and back pain. Worse, she had to wake up at 3 to 4 am in the morning and eat a piece of bread to stop the gastric and the kicking inside. My son ought to know this when he grows up!

I am not trying to give you the A to Z of pregnancy here. I am trying to point out all men can be great husband and father. All we need is to spend a bit of time and do what needs to be done out of love and commitment for our wife and child.

If we find out the details for each stage of pregnancy and be observant, a lot of headache and heartache could be avoided or prevented. When we are informed, we can do away with unfounded stress and worries. Even more important, some of the fetal defects or problems could be solved or prevented if known earlier. There is pregnancy related medical information made available to laymen like us. All we need to do is to read up and be informed. I have heard about many pregnancy tragedies because they DID NOT KNOW certain things about the potential risks associated with certain stage of pregnancy. Just imagine how sad that is. If the information is not available, then nothing we can do. If the information has all along been there, and the tragedy happens because we simply did not bother to find out before something happens! How do you feel about that?

Most pregnant mothers have some degrees of depression and insecurity during the months. If the husband is busy and not at home most of the time, she will feel even more depressed and insecure. Fathers and husbands, take note of this. This has some unforgiving influence on your child. When your wife is depressed, certain biochemicals will be emitted by the mother and enters your child’s body. Those biochemicals may impede your child’s growth and development. Or, it may also affect your child’s after-birth behavior when he or she comes into this world.

Guys, you can and need all these information to be a good husband and father. The information is available today. To be or not to be is your call.

The Evolution of Python Language Over the Years

According to several websites, Python is one of the most popular coding languages of 2015. Along with being a high-level and general-purpose programming language, Python is also object-oriented and open source. At the same time, a good number of developers across the world have been making use of Python to create GUI applications, websites and mobile apps. The differentiating factor that Python brings to the table is that it enables programmers to flesh out concepts by writing less and readable code. How Python Has Been Evolving over the Years?

Conceived as a Hobby Programming Project

Despite being one of the most popular coding languages of 2015, Python was originally conceived by Guido van Rossum as a hobby project in December 1989. As Van Rossum’s office remained closed during Christmas, he was looking for a hobby project that will keep him occupied during the holidays. He planned to create an interpreter for a new scripting language, and named the project as Python. Thus, Python was originally designed as a successor to ABC programming language. After writing the interpreter, Van Rossum made the code public in February 1991. However, at present the open source programming language is being managed by the Python Software Foundation.

Version 1 of Python

Python 1.0 was released in January 1994. The major release included a number of new features and functional programming tools including lambda, filter, map and reduce. The version 1.4 was released with several new features like keyword arguments, built-in support for complex numbers, and a basic form of data hiding. The major release was followed by two minor releases, version 1.5 in December 1997 and version 1.6 in September 2000. The version 1 of Python lacked the features offered by popular programming languages of the time. But the initial versions created a solid foundation for development of a powerful and futuristic programming language.

Version 2 of Python

In October 2000, Python 2.0 was released with the new list comprehension feature and a garbage collection system. The syntax for the list comprehension feature was inspired by other functional programming languages like Haskell. But Python 2.0, unlike Haskell, gave preference to alphabetic keywords over punctuation characters. Also, the garbage collection system effectuated collection of reference cycles. The major release was followed by several minor releases. These releases added a number of functionality to the programming language like support for nested scopes, and unification of Python’s classes and types into a single hierarchy. The Python Software Foundation has already announced that there would be no Python 2.8. However, the Foundation will provide support to version 2.7 of the programming language till 2020.

Version 3 of Python

Python 3.0 was released in December 2008. It came with a several new features and enhancements, along with a number of deprecated features. The deprecated features and backward incompatibility make version 3 of Python completely different from earlier versions. So many developers still use Python 2.6 or 2.7 to avail the features deprecated from last major release. However, the new features of Python 3 made it more modern and popular. Many developers even switched to version 3.0 of the programming language to avail these awesome features.

Python 3.0 replaced print statement with the built-in print() function, while allowing programmers to use custom separator between lines. Likewise, it simplified the rules of ordering comparison. If the operands are not organized in a natural and meaningful order, the ordering comparison operators can now raise a TypeError exception. The version 3 of the programming language further uses text and data instead of Unicode and 8-bit strings. While treating all code as Unicode by default it represents binary data as encoded Unicode.

As Python 3 is backward incompatible, the programmers cannot access features like string exceptions, old-style classes, and implicit relative imports. Also, the developers must be familiar with changes made to syntax and APIs. They can use a tool called “2to3” to migrate their application from Python 2 to 3 smoothly. The tool highlights incompatibility and areas of concern through comments and warnings. The comments help programmers to make changes to the code, and upgrade their existing applications to the latest version of programming language.

Latest Versions of Python

At present, programmers can choose either version 3.4.3 or 2.7.10 of Python. Python 2.7 enables developers to avail improved numeric handling and enhancements for standard library. The version further makes it easier for developers to migrate to Python 3. On the other hand, Python 3.4 comes with several new features and library modules, security improvements and CPython implementation improvements. However, a number of features are deprecated in both Python API and programming language. The developers can still use Python 3.4 to avail support in the longer run.

Version 4 of Python

Python 4.0 is expected to be available in 2023 after the release of Python 3.9. It will come with features that will help programmers to switch from version 3 to 4 seamlessly. Also, as they gain experience, the expert Python developers can take advantage of a number of backward compatible features to modernize their existing applications without putting any extra time and effort. However, the developers still have to wait many years to get a clear picture of Python 4.0. However, they must monitor the latest releases to easily migrate to the version 4.0 of the popular coding language.

The version 2 and version 3 of Python are completely different from each other. So each programmer must understand the features of these distinct versions, and compare their functionality based on specific needs of the project. What Is Android? How Android Came Into Existence

Android is a Linux based mobile device operating system developed by the Open Handset Alliance led by Google. Android is mainly used in Smartphone and tablet computers. Android is open source i.e. its features can be extended to incorporate new technologies as they emerge.

Fertility Drugs And Birth Defects – The Hidden Risk Of Induced Ovulation

In what can only be described as the drug industries’ version of the shell game, over the past three decades the manufacturers of fertility drugs have demonstrated with exquisite skill that what you don’t see may as well not exist.

In 1972 it was reported in a scientific journal that in a combined study involving Clomid (clomiphene citrate) and Pergonal (human menopausal gonadotropin/hMG), there was twice the expected frequency of Down syndrome in the offspring of women using those drugs. The subject birth defect, which is usually caused by an abnormal chromosome (trisomy 21) in older women, could not be attributed to the average age of the study populations. The following year, another published study concluded that there was an increased incidence of abnormal chromosomes in first trimester spontaneous abortions (miscarriages) in women conceiving with fertility drugs, including clomiphene and hMG, when compared to the general population and women who naturally conceived two or more cycles after using drugs to induce ovulation. In yet another published paper during the same year (1973), scientists described a study establishing that clomiphene was capable of causing abnormal chromosomes in the endometrium (lining of the uterus) of women using the drug.

Yet, even though this evidence was presented to the FDA over 3 decades earlier, the current labeling (package inserts) for these drugs make absolutely no reference to these studies.

But it doesn’t stop there. In 1983, a scientific article appearing in the International Journal of Epidemiology, reported on a study in which they found a significant increase in the incidence of limb reduction defects (absence of limbs) following the use of fertility drugs, including clomiphene citrate. And beginning in late 1987, a series of published scientific studies began appearing in medical journals in which the researchers reported on an increased incidence of neural tube defects (NTDs) following use of fertility drugs, including their use during in vitro fertilization (IVF). An NTD results when the neural tube fails to fully close during the 4th week of pregnancy, leaving an open cranium (anencephaly) and/or spinal column (spina bifida). One scientist, after combining the results of 3 of these studies in a meta-analysis, stated that “the three studies, when combined, do indicate that the association between ovulation induction and NTD is real.” He calculated that the odds of the combined statistics (a 194 percent increased risk) occurring by chance was only 4 in a thousand (P = 0.004). In still another NTD study published in 1991, the authors commented that “these data (a 136 percent increased risk), combined with those previously published, indicate an association between stimulation of ovulation and increased rate of NTD.”

Yet, in spite of this knowledge, the FDA took no steps to insure that the users of fertility drugs and their doctors were aware of these studies. To the contrary, between 1967 and 1995, the Clomid package insert assured prescribing physicians that “no causative evidence of a deleterious effect of Clomid therapy on the human fetus (had) been seen.”

During the mid-1990s it was determined that NTDs and other specific congenital anomalies can occur when the early embryo is denied an adequate supply of cholesterol. In addition to being an important constituent of the human cell, it has been discovered that a gene (Sonic hedgehog/Shh), which dictates how certain organs are to form during early pregnancy, must bind with cholesterol to properly function. Absent a sufficient level of cholesterol, Shh cannot effectively communicate and malformations occur.

The discovery about the importance of cholesterol in the development of embryonic organs was a major breakthrough toward understanding how fertility drugs can malform a human embryo. Although not widely known, clomiphene citrate is a cholesterol inhibiting drug — it inhibits the function of an enzyme in the body that normally converts desmosterol to cholesterol. The suppression of cholesterol during the critical first few weeks of pregnancy can also occur as a consequence of another function of fertility drugs; namely, their demonstrated ability to significantly elevate normal levels of estrogen. It has been established that there is an inverse correlation between the level of estrogen and the level of cholesterol: the higher the estrogen, the lower the cholesterol.

A recent published study (January 2008) demonstrated this very subject. The researchers found that when women, who did not develop ovarian follicular cysts, were exposed to clomiphene during the first 2 months of pregnancy, they had a 350 percent increased risk of having a baby with a neural tube defect. However, if the fertility drug also caused the development of ovarian cysts — which contain high levels of estrogen — the incidence of NTDs shot even higher to a 540 percent increased risk. The authors concluded that when accompanied by follicular cysts, the “treatment with clomiphene may have a role in the genesis of NTD.” Although administered prior to conception, clomiphene can be biologically active up to 54 days after ingestion, and is thus present during early pregnancy in every woman who conceives during a treatment cycle.

The real tragedy about withholding this information from users of fertility drugs and their doctors is that there currently exists a simple means to substantially reduce or eliminate the risk of birth defects while continuing to take these drugs.

Changing to Consular Processing After Form I-485 Has Already Been Filed

If you have applied for Adjustment of Status (“AOS”) on Form I-485 and you need to leave the United States, you can change to the Consular Processing (“CP”) method in order to obtain a visa abroad. In order to change to CP, you must submit Form I-824 to USCIS. Form I-824 is a request that the U.S. Consulate overseas is notified of your AOS approval. Follow the instructions for Form I-824 carefully. If in doubt about submitting this request, you should consult an immigration lawyer.

One reason why an AOS applicant might want to change to CP is because AOS sometimes experiences long delays in processing. CP is sometimes quicker. However, Form I-824 has sometimes experienced long delays as well. Therefore, changing to CP may not turn out to be as quick as you thought.

In employment-based AOS cases, this problem may have less of an effect. The Visa Office recently advised all U.S. Consular posts to accept these types of cases when the beneficiary was last resident in that Consular post’s district. Even when the beneficiary was not last resident in the Consular post’s district, the Consulate is strongly encouraged to accept the cases if the applicant is facing some sort of hardship as a result of the long processing delays.

To change from AOS to CP, the employment-based applicant should submit three primary documents to USCIS: (1) the I-797 Notice of Receipt on the Form I-140; (2) a copy of the Form I-140 petition; and (3) the Notice of Receipt for the Form I-824. In addition, the applicant should submit evidence that she will be residing in the Consular post’s district during the foreseeable future.

There are certain drawbacks, however, to changing from AOS to CP. For instance, if the applicant has accrued over 180 days of unlawful presence in the U.S., she should not change from AOS to CP or else she will be subject to the 3- or 10-year bar to returning to the U.S. Another drawback is that the applicant’s withdrawal of her AOS application may also have the effect of withdrawing her employment authorization if she does not have some other means of obtaining employment authorization, such as another type of nonimmigrant visa status.

How to Grill a Tri-Tip Roast the Right Way!

Summer is here and that means it is the perfect time for grilling a tri tip roast. You too can barbeque a tri tip that will make your mouth water. Tri tip is such a perfect cut of meat to feed larger groups and it is very easy to grill if you know the right way.

If you aren’t from the West Coast then you may not be familiar with tri-tip. The tri-tip is cut from the bottom sirloin primal cut. It is considered a roast, but in truth it tastes much more like a great steak. That is why it is so popular.

You can prepare a tri-tip in different ways. You may want to marinade it overnight to seal in some great flavor (although tri tip has plenty of flavor on its own). Or you could use a dry rub the moment before you put it on the grill. Try doing a dry rub to start and then ten minutes before you pull it off, baste it with a nice helping of BBQ sauce of your choice. This will make a nice crust on the roast but it will still have that fantastic center flavor.

The right way to cook a tri-tip roast is over in-direct heat at 325 degrees. This is considered slow cooking as the time to cook it varies from 60 to 90 minutes depending on the pounds of the tip. A basic rule of thumb is to cook the tri-tip for approximately 30 minutes for every pound.

Don’t grill the tri-tip directly over burning coals. Tri-tips often release plenty of fat grease and these can fall on the hot coals causing flare-ups. Have an ice-cold beer on hand to keep the flames down (and for yourself, you are BBQing, right?).

Tri-tip should be cooked medium-rare to medium, so pull the tri tip roast off when the center of the tip reaches 140 degrees. Whatever you do, do not cover the tri-tip with aluminum foil as this turns the meat grey and you don’t get that nice steak-like crust that a tri-tip should have.
